One of the biggest trends in Social Media now are apps that allow you to live stream whatever you want, whenever you want. Today we gave Nomadcast a try, after using Periscope the last several weeks. We debated the value of these innovations and what kind of broadcasts will keep people entertained.

The Oculus Connect 2 event revealed a number of new steps they are taking to bring VR into the mainstream. The Gear VR 2 will be coming out for $99 and they have also opened up content development to help encourage companies to break into the format. Hulu and Netflix have also announced their plans to jump into VR content production.

VW is in a world of trouble in the US, after news broke they had intentionally installed software to fool EPA emissions tests. Almost 500,000 cars will need to be recalled! How did this all happen and who knew about it?

Today's episode features Ryan Waniata, Drew Prindle, Ben Lundin & Greg Nibler.   We also broadcast live on Periscope taking your questions throughout the show!  Follow @DigitalTrends to be alerted when we go live or send in questions ahead of time to podcast@digitaltrends.com.

We covered a broad range of topics today, starting off with Amazon's announcment about the new Amazon Fire tablets.  They are cheap at $50 a piece (or a 6-pack for $259).  Are they worth it, or should you just upgrade?

The new Fire TV is also on it's way.  One of them comes with their voice assistant Alexa and 4k Ultra HD Video streaming.  In addition, there is a new Fire TV Gaming Edition as an attempt to jump into the gaming world.

As a followup to Apple's big announcements last week, we briefly cover the iOS 9 upgrade.  The trolls also came out in force this week, with Apple's "Move to iOS" app for Android users.

Apple Music is supposed to be one of the biggest competitors to Spotify.  Spotify's CEO, Daniel Ek, doesn't seem to view it that way.  In fact, he thanked Apple for jumping into streaming music and cited it as a reason for a huge increase in their subscription base.

Then we jump to the ever popular topic of Drones.  Drone regulation is going to be one of the biggest issues in Tech over the next few years, but how do you do it?  The UK and NASA are teaming up with a possible plan.

Finally we cover a new issue for the TSA.  Someone has released a 3D Print file to make a master key for the TSA locks that they use when inspecnting bags.  The TSA's response?  Not much!  Plus, Drew makes a shocking confession regarding his past that will surely come back to haunt him.

Today's episode features Nick Mokey, Matt Smith, Brad Bourque, Greg Nibler and a surprise appearance from Caleb Denison.   We also broadcast live on Periscope taking your questions throughout the show!  Follow @DigitalTrends to be alerted when we go live or send in questions ahead of time to podcast@digitaltrends.com.

First off we cover the iPhone 6S.  While it won't look any different in the appearance category, there are actually some pretty fascinating developments with it.  We discuss the virtues of 4K video, the 3D Touch, Live Photo and the issues of memory storage.

Then we move on to analyzing the iPad Pro.  Is bigger actually going to be better?  Matt has a theory that this is Apple's attempt to take iOS into mainstream computing.  Can this new tablet actually take the place of your regular desktop/laptop computer?

There is also the competition with Microsoft's Surface Pro 3.  Brad discusses his new article at digitaltrends.com and the....feedback, that people seem to have.

Caleb Denison then sashays in for an impromtpu review of Apple TV.  The verdict:  He is excited!  This appears to be something that Apple is doing in the right way, from the new controller, to improved SIRI and there is a lot to talk about concerning it's potential.

Finally, we announce that a new DT Contributor is running for President!  You'll have to listen to find out who.  Or maybe you already know.

Today's episode features Ryan Waniata, Drew Prindle, Bill Roberson & Greg Nibler.   We also broadcast live on Periscope taking your questions throughout the show!  Follow @DigitalTrends to be alerted when we go live or send in questions ahead of time to podcast@digitaltrends.com.

We start off the show with an update on IFA.  It opens to the public on September 5th, but DT is there getting to see everything first.  One of the biggest stories?  LG has unveiled their new 4K UHD OLED TV, the EF9500.  The new television has the ability to process HDR and all around is looking pretty damn amazing.  Plus, Panasonic is now elbowing into the market with their new CZ950.  OLED is definitely the future of display and it seems like it's finally ready to start branching out.

Along the lines of 4K, Sony has unveiled their new Experia Z5 Smartphone which boasts a 4K screen.  With the advent of everything having the ability to view 4K, will the content creators be able to keep pace?

T-Mobile has been making a lot of waves lately, thanks to their entertaining and possibly eccentric CEO, John Legere.  There is no denying he isn't your average company head, but he's also making some very good points regarding Mobile Carriers.  Plus, he's letting the public vote on how he will troll the other companies.  Who doesn't love that!?

Next up; THE STAR WARS TOYS ARE OUT!  Yes, that deserved all-caps because they are looking incredible.  From the BB-8 Droid that you can control with your phone, to the Millenium Falcon and X-Wing drones, Disney/Star Wars is set to break records before the movie even comes out.

We round out the show with discussion of a DIY Helicopter and the possible future of MMA-style fighting, in Unified Weapons.

All along the way we take questions and comments from live Periscope viewers, as well!
