Jan 27, 2017

Facebook VR is pushing forward. Is it a viable platform? The 3D Television may be dead. Food and Technology collide with a gluten-testing device, engineering students try to bring beer to the moon and Tostitos has a new bag of chips with a breathalyzer.

Our latest weekly episode of Trends with Benefits features Naomi Vo, Rick Stella, Caleb Denison and Greg Nibler.

  • Are you ready for Facebook VR?: Facebook has hired Hugo Barra away from Xiaomi, as they focus future innovation on virtual and augmented reality. What will this mean for social interaction and how would you incorporate VR into it? Is Virtual Reality a platform that is sustainable?

  • Are 3D Televisions official dead? : While it does have a group of hardcore fans, manufacturers have largely abandoned the 3D television. It may stick around for a while as a format for the theater, but it appears home use is on it's way out. Are you one of the stalwarts sticking by 3D, or are you ready to move on from it?

  • Technology meets Food: From Smart Homes to Smart Meals, we take a look at a few different new pieces of tech and innovations. There is a new gluten-testing product called Nima; A group of engineering students attempt to make beer on the moon as part of the Google Lunar Xprize; Frito Lay teams up with Uber to create a 'Smart' bag of Tostitos chips that will tell if you've had too much to drink.
